Welcome in Ashausen!
This is a page created by volunteers to collect and share useful information and links for you.
Additionally to persons working in your shelter, we are some local people who just want to support you here (since it is unpaid, this is called „ehrenamtlich“).

Bank
Despite plans to introduce paycards for refugees, currently it makes sense to open a bank account. For this you need an appointment at Sparkasse or Volksbank in Stelle. The account costs 10EUR each month at Sparkasse and 6.90EUR at Volksbank. Please note: using ATMs from other banks than yours costs extra money. So if you want to use the only ATM in Ashausen for free you need a Volksbank account.
Documents you need for opening an account: Meldebestätigung, Aufenthaltsgestattung (valid!), + for Sparkasse Steuer ID
Please ask Irem (your social worker) to organize an appointment for 3-5 peaple at once, because you need to have someone with you who can translate. Either the Heimleiter, a Sprachmittler or one of us from the Helferkreis can come with you.
When you opened the account, please make sure that the Lankreis gets your IBAN (Irem can help) and transfers your money to the account. The account has no credit and if the bank charges you for the account and there is no money on it you get in trouble.
You can only spend money with the card or online if there is enough on you account.
If you get a Mahnung from the bank or from elsewhere, please consult Irem or the Helferkreis. Never ignore Mahnungen! If you ignore them, you will be registered at SCHUFA with a bad score and that will cause you problems when you want to rent a house/appartment, buy a house/car or make a contract for a cell phone.
Please always tell your bank your new adress when you move and quit all contracts when you leave the country.
The Volksbank also needs copies of the new Aufenthaltsgestattung when you get one.
For everything concerning your Asylantrag, Landkreis, Language school, doctors and so on please ask the social worker or Heimleiter.
